Genetically Modified/Transgenic Foods

In my opinion I think that genetically modified foods are generally a positive contribution to society. Their ability to feed mass population by increasing the efficiency in which they grow could help to end the shortage in many third world countries. I see that many countries may start to become dependant on this new food source but I think this dependence is a better side effect of the genetically modified foods rather than the millions of people that would die without it. Their ability to be altered so that they can grow in many different areas apart from where they are naturally found can also help third world countries to grow a much more diverse range of crops. This would allow them to be able to make a lot more money from there farm boosting up the economy and in general just giving a break to a lot of people who live in poverty. The idea of growing certain crops with certain vitamins in certain areas for a specific disease or disorder is great in the sense that with GM foods we can pin point and work towards bettering the lives of people without it also affecting the whole world.
